JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Scope:

• The Senior Network Engineer will work closely with the NCI project & service delivery area on the DDC (Colombia and Philippines).
• Operational and management services are considered on this position, daily tasks as monitoring patching, improvement activities, remediation, etc.
• The services will be provided to worldwide Inchcape markets.
• Will support, design, and apply the strategic infrastructure plan, according to the enterprise strategy designed by the global IT architect definition.
• Must design and evaluate (architecture, cost, technology) for Cloud & on-premises environments.
• Active participation on the projects, designing the technical solution and oversee the deployment process to align the implementation with the architecture proposed.

• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
• Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management:

• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
• Deploy new equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including firewalls, routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Provide guidance to junior members of the team.
• Monitor and troubleshoot VoIP systems to identify and resolve voice-related issues promptly, ensuring uninterrupted communication services.
• Perform capacity planning and recommend necessary upgrades or expansions to meet the organization's growing voice communication needs.
• Implement and maintain voice gateways, codecs, and other voice-related components to ensure seamless integration with the existing network infrastructure.
• Work closely with telecommunication service providers to establish and maintain connections, troubleshoot circuit-related issues, and manage vendor relationships.
• Collaborate with the IT security team to implement and maintain security measures for VoIP systems, including access controls and encryption protocols.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other IT team members and end users on VoIP-related matters, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.

Formal Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Cisco certifications – CCNA (mandatory).
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration (Desirable).
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration (Desirable).
• Any VoIP vendor-specific certifications.
• ITIL v3 foundation (desirable).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

Knowledge and Experience

• 6 years’ experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide VoIP environments, etc.
• The ability to work well in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, micro segmentation, and telecommunications principles.
• Experience on telephony systems, collaboration tools and VoIP services.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Technology:

• A solid grasp of VoIP fundamentals is crucial, including knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, H.323, RTP, and SCCP. Understanding the basics of call routing, call signalling, codecs, and Quality of Service (QoS) for voice traffic.
• Telephony Systems: Familiarity with telephony systems and concepts is beneficial. This includes understanding traditional telephony technologies, such as PSTN, analog and digital circuits, as well as IP-based telephony systems, such as Private Branch Exchange (PBX), Unified Communications (UC), and Session Border Controllers (SBC).
• Voice Infrastructure Components: Knowledge of voice infrastructure components, such as IP-PBX systems, gateways, media servers, call control platforms, and VoIP endpoints (phones, softphones), is important. Understanding the integration and configuration of these components is beneficial.
• Voice Network Troubleshooting: Basic troubleshooting skills specific to voice networks are valuable. This includes the ability to diagnose and resolve voice-related issues, such as call quality problems, echo, latency, and connectivity problems.
• Enterprise data centre infrastructure (networking, security)
• Strong knowledge of Cloud networking (Desirable)
• Knowledge about Cloud Network security architecture
• Knowledge an several brands of networking (Cisco, Extreme Networks, Dell, Aruba, Arista, HP, Silver Peak, Meraki, etc.)

Work Conditions

• Monday – Friday, office hours.
• Some afterhours work will be required to join online meetings with global team members.
• Migration activities or planned changes on afterhours will be required.
